Make your own leather goods

Libby has been very keen on learning different skills as an artist while in Vietnam.  One place we visited was DIY Box, which trains people how to make leather goods.  For a very reasonable fee, they provide the leather, the tools, and the know-how.  As long as you have the time, you can make purses, wallets, belts, iPhone cases, whatever.  Libby went with her friends Viet and Thu Huong and started her wallet.









This was a picture of Thu Huong showing off to the rest of us the cool cell phone case she had made that morning.  This was at a restaurant around the corner, and while lunch was great, it ended quite abruptly (and sadly) when the family behind us in the picture suddenly got in a violent domestic dispute, complete with yelling and throwing plates, bowls, rice cookers, etc.  We got up and left the restaurant and eventually paid, but it was a little scary.
