Vietnamese hot pot and grilling

Saturday night we got to experience our first Vietnamese hot pot, which Finn has been asking about for awhile.  A hot pot meal is very popular in Asia -- there is a simmering metal pot of soup in the middle with lots of vegetables in it, and then the people add indregients that they want like beef, seafood, other vegetables and greens, etc.  It is meant to be a leisurely meal that takes awhile.

A new outdoor hot pot place opened just around the corner from us on the way to the park, so we've watched it develop over the last few weeks, and so we finally had a chance to go.  Our Fulbright friend Viet helped us navigate what to do and speak with the guys running the restaurant.  The food was great and fun.

These guys have put in an amazing amount of work the last few weeks.  In addition to running their construction supply business, they have also started this hot pot restaurant AND cleared out huge tracts of land to start building soccer fields.  We've been able to watch everything from our kitchen window over the last few weeks.
