Celebrating the halfway mark

We've officially crossed the halfway mark of our Vietnam experience -- some days it feels like we just got here, other days it seems like we've been here forever and we'll never get to leave -- so we wanted to take the kids out to celebrate.

Korean BBQ places are very popular in Vietnam and we've wanted to try it since we got here.  So yesterday we went to a place called Baek Jeong in a Korean part of our neighborhood.  Libby and I initially noticed it because of the cool vents that come down from the ceiling.  But the dinner itself was some of the best beef we've ever tasted.

Here's the generous manager explaining how everything works (we think he might have been the only English speaker there).  After we asked a few questions, he just said, "Trust me.  I will make you happy."  He wasn't wrong:

After dinner we gave the kids some money to shop at some of the local stores.  By far the most popular one was L's Place, which has a selection of some American foods that we haven't seen in two months.  Never has root beer and potato chips looked so good:

And we ended the night with a little ice cream treat at -- where else? -- Baskin Robbins.
