Smog update

Last night while chatting with my Dad on FaceTime, he asked about the smog and pollution.  "It's bad," I said.  "There are some mountains outside of Hanoi that we used to be able to see from our window, but we haven't been able to see them in over a month."  People in Hanoi are definitely concerned, from Finn's teacher sending a note home about the smog to the Saturday soccer league emailing guidelines about when soccer would be cancelled due to pollution.  It has been pretty depressing, actually.

But lo and behold, as you can see from the above picture, this morning we woke up to skies that had cleared out.  It was a beautiful sunny day with very little smog.  And we even saw this:

A few weeks ago I posted a picture of the view outside our bedroom window on a particularly smoggy day:

And here is the view this morning at roughly the same time of day:

We're not sure why there was such a change it smog levels -- the wind?  Mother Nature?  dumb luck? -- but we are really grateful.
