Dinner
This was my delicious dinner tonight at a food stand around the corner from our building. It is a huge plate of stir-fried rice with fresh vegetables and herbs grown in the back.
Hi Ken. The beer here is cheap and drinkable, although so far I have only sampled the local Bai Ha Noi. Apparently there are a few microbreweries around but haven't made it to that part of town yet. We are enjoying your blog. We loved the Oregon coast when we were there last summer. I'm sure your schedule is pretty tight, but check out the Oregon sand dunes if you get a chance!
Ed, you are doing a yeoman's job of documenting this adventure! Thanks for taking the time and effort to share photos and "news from the front" with all of us. Your posts take me back to the backstreets of my childhood. I had a 45-min walk to the train station to get to school and it was through the alleys and byways that you are describing. Small shops, vendors and markets -- it looks like home! Also loved reading about the boys' haircuts. Looks like the ladies are pretty well taken with young Finn. Please give kudos to Ellie for her blogging work and to Libby for her wonderful Instagram descriptions of the fishing village. Fishing village... now, you're really taking me "home!" Mom.
with food that cheap, I would never cook!
ReplyDeleteSo, how is the beer? Inquiring minds in Astoria, OR want to know!
