Teammates

When we were touring St. Paul American School as a possibility for the kids, they talked a lot about the strong academics and the brand new facilities.  But they also mentioned that the kids would be able to play on the school sports teams in middle school, and that basketball season was just starting here.  The principal warned us, though, that the level of competition would not be what we were used to in the United States and that a lot of the kids had never played basketball before.

Last Thursday was the first series of games that Noah, Ellie, and Carter got to play in.  They traveled to the United Nations International School in Hanoi to compete against several other international schools in Hanoi for a basketball tournament (games were quick -- 10 minute running clock).

The boys did well, winning three games and only losing once.  More interesting for me is that this was the first time Noah and Carter played together on a competitive team:

















Meanwhile, Ellie starred on the Middle School Girl's team, which won one game and tied two others.  Ellie appeared to be the one player on the team that was willing to shoot when she had an open shot:
